Epiphone is a legendary brand that has always been a symbol of quality. It became famous in the 50s when it was the main competition of the almighty Gibson. What few know is that it was founded by a Greek, Anastasios Stathopoulos, before Gibson bought it and moved it to its base in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
For decades, Epiphone has created some of the most iconic models in music history. The Beatles made them popular by using various of their models. Among them, one of the most iconic, the Epiphone Casino, a model that artists such of John Lennon or Gary Clark Jr have declared to be their favorite.
But there are many more, such as the Epiphone Les Paul, the FT series of acoustics, the Masterbilt, the Sheraton or the Riviera, models that are still being built nowadays. In recent years, Gibson has made the brand its cheaper models section. But don't be fooled by prices, Epiphone hasn't lost the character that made it an indissoluble part of rock history.
